One question we often get at New City Theaters is, “What movie are you guys showing? Why do your movie night advertisements not mention the names of the film you are showing?”
Well, it all has to do with our license.
Christian Video Licensing International provides movie licenses to churches so that they can show movie clips during services, host movie night youth events, and basically show a broad range of movies for outreach purposes.
It’s a fantastic license, and New City Theaters is incredibly grateful that we are able to partner with CVLI for our ministry.
Since the license is so affordable, the terms of the license stipulate that to use the license, we are unable to mention the name of the movie or make reference to the film’s characters in our advertisements (including our videos, the website, our Facebook page, etc.)
So what does this mean for us? It means that we can get creative in our advertisements!
We are able to have movie nights expressing the type of movie we are going to show, and express the theme that we are going to get across. It’s also fun to try and guess what the movie is.
So when we showed the movie “Prince Caspian,” we were able to cross over with a Star Wars idea (It was our 5th “episode” after all) and come up with a unique event night.
We are really excited to have this opportunity to have fun with our movie nights.
Note: We ARE able to e-mail out the movies we are going to show, so be sure to sign up for our mailing list!
